Generalized Anxiety And Panic Attack

If you have generalized anxiety and panic attack as well, it's time to seek treatment. This is not something you want to put off, even if you suffer from one of them.

Generalized anxiety can turn into generalized anxiety disorder. Everyone has anxiety, but a sufferer of generalized anxiety cannot shake off these feelings and thoughts.

The worry and thoughts that they go through is extreme. While others can carry on, sufferers of generalized anxiety cannot, or find it incredibly hard to do so.

Anxiety Can Lead To Other Issues

They are fixated on these worrying thoughts. They find it hard to function in jobs, relationships and in living their daily lives. Some of the symptoms include:

- constantly worrying (even about trivial things)

- unable to relax

- trembling and shaking

- stomach problems

- chest pains

- irritable

This form of anxiety can lead to panic attacks. Without treatment, panic attacks can lead to panic disorder. This, in turn could lead to agoraphobia.

That's why it's so important to do something. Generalized anxiety can cause a person to procrastinate. DON'T! As you can see, one thing can lead to another.

Panic attacks are incredibly frightening episodes of fear, along with physical sensations like dizziness or feeling like you're having a heart attack.

Many feel like they are going crazy or about to die. The strange irony is that it's harmless, but that offers no compensation.

Treatment Is Effective

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and if needed, medication, are both effective ways of treating your generalized anxiety and panic attack. It will help you get back on track.

CBT helps you to think differently. It helps you understand and realize that your current thinking pattern needs to be changed. It makes you do things. It's an active form of therapy.

Medication can reduce dramatically the physical sensations as well as the frequency of attacks and sensations. Together, it helps you gain your life back.

You need to remain and think positively. It takes time and practice, but just like with anything else, practice makes you get better.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (Hardcover (Trade Cloth))

Generalized Anxiety Disorder Medical understanding of the nature and treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) has dramatically increased over the past 15 years. Recent studies have shown that GAD is a common disorder, with one-year and lifetime prevalence rates of approximately 1.6 and 5.1 respectively. Contrary to previously held assumptions, Gad leads to considerable distress and impairment, which translate into substantial personal, social, and financial costs. Research into the nature of GAD has provided a number of theoretically-driven and empirically-supported conceptualizations have spawned cognitive-behavioral treatments for GAD, a few of which have received empirical support in controlled clinical trials. The main objective of this book is to present a detailed analysis of the etiology, assessment, and treatment of GAD by focusing on the cognitive-behavioral model and treatment options for GAD. Following chapters would provide a review of the empirical support for the different models of GAD, a detaileddescription of the assessment and step-by-step treatment of GAD (including many examples of therapist-client dialogue), and data on treatment efficacy in individual and group therapy. The book would conclude with a description of maintenance and follow-up strategies. There are a disproportionately small number of treatment manuals for effective interventions for individuals with what newer evidence has shown to be an increasingly common and widespread disorder. This handbook would be a useful tool for clinical and counseling psychologists in treatment of GAD, and a welcome addition to our new series.
